Table tennis: Women's team loses game around bronze

The German table tennis women have missed the hoped-for medal in the team competition at the Olympic Games. Petrissa Solja, Han Ying and Shan Xiaona documents Hong Kong in the game around Bronze with 1: 3 and went empty after the second defeat in a row. In 2016 in Rio, the team of Federal Trainer Jie Schöpp had also won silver.

"That hurts. Fourth place is incredibly ungrateful, in the end we have no medal," European champion said Solja. Schöpf, which after nine years after Olympia stops as a national trainer, was also disappointed: "We did not get rid of the pressure. My players fought against themselves and their fears - and unfortunately not won."

Solja and Shan Xiaona (Langstadt / Berlin) made a perfect start when they won the double against Doo Hoi Kem / Lee Ho Ching with 3: 1 after lost first sentence. Defense strategist Han Ying (Düsseldorf / Tarnobrzeg), however, lost their singles against Minnie Soo Wai Yam (1: 3), also Sportsoldatin Solja had to be beaten as already in the 2016 Olympic Final Finals of the experienced doo (0: 3).

One day after the 0: 3 defeat against China, the German team in the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium did not make a comeback more. Shan (Berlin) awarded the 0: 3 against Soo in the first two passes a total of three sentence balls, in the end the force was missing. The final disposals from 12.30 pm Mesz Germany's semi-final finger China and host Japan.
